6 AI Cybersecurity Stocks as Spending Doubles in 2026
AI cybersecurity spending is projected to double to $51bn in 2026. Six stocks sit at the intersection of AI and cyber defence as analysts flag the sector's growing importance.
Cybersecurity is emerging as one of the most under-owned sectors in the AI investment landscape. While chips, cloud and infrastructure have dominated the AI trade, security spending is accelerating at three to four times the rate of the broader industry. JPMorgan Chase Private Bank projects global cybersecurity spending will reach $240bn in 2026. Wedbush Securities projects AI-specific security spending will double to $51bn by year-end.
Why Is Cybersecurity Becoming Central to the AI Investment Thesis?
The AI supercycle has showered returns on chipmakers, cloud platforms and infrastructure builders. But one corner of the market has been conspicuously left behind: cybersecurity.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently warned that AI will expose widespread software vulnerabilities, suggesting significant cyber threats could escalate through 2026. He framed AI as both the source of new attack vectors and the most powerful defence tool available to counter them.
This dynamic creates a structural tailwind for cybersecurity companies. As enterprises deploy more AI workloads, they generate more data, more endpoints and more attack surfaces. Every new AI model, API (application programming interface) and agent-based workflow represents a potential vulnerability that needs protecting.
Key spending projections:
Global cybersecurity market: projected to grow from $219bn (2025) to $700bn (2034) at a 13.8% CAGR (compound annual growth rate), according to Fortune Business Insights
AI-specific security spending: projected to double to $51bn by end of 2026, per Wedbush Securities
Total cybersecurity spending: projected to reach $320bn by 2029 at 11% CAGR, per JPMorgan
Goldman Sachs estimates that AI infrastructure investment will account for roughly 40% of all S&P 500 earnings growth in 2026. As that infrastructure scales, the security layer must scale with it
Which Stocks Are Positioned at the AI-Cybersecurity Intersection?
Analysts from JPMorgan, Wedbush and Zacks have identified six companies positioned to benefit from the convergence of AI and cybersecurity. These fall into two groups: platform leaders and infrastructure defenders.
Platform Leaders
CrowdStrike $CRWD ( ▲ 0.78% ) uses machine learning across its Falcon platform for real-time endpoint threat detection. Both JPMorgan and Wedbush identify it as a primary beneficiary of rising AI security budgets.
Palo Alto Networks $PANW ( ▲ 2.3% ) is consolidating multiple security tools into a single platform, an approach analysts see as well-suited to securing complex AI workloads.
Zscaler $ZS ( ▼ 2.98% ) operates a cloud-native Zero Trust architecture. Rated "buy" by 86% of covering analysts with a median price target of $220 (roughly 56% upside). Wedbush holds a $350 target.
Infrastructure Defenders
Cisco Systems $CSCO ( ▲ 3.74% ) received $2.1bn in AI infrastructure orders from web-scale customers in Q2 FY2026, pulling its security capabilities into large-scale AI deployments.
F5, Inc. $FFIV ( ▼ 1.4% ) launched F5 AI Guardrails and AI Red Team in January 2026, targeting enterprises that need to protect AI models and APIs from data leakage and adversarial attacks.
A10 Networks $ATEN ( ▲ 1.42% ) is a smaller application networking company upgrading its platforms with AI-enhanced threat detection. Less covered than the platform leaders, but mid-cap exposure to the theme.
How Do These Stocks Score on the AIIP Methodology?
The AIIP model ranks 170 AI stocks weekly on fundamentals and price momentum. Four of these six are tracked (F5 and A10 Networks are not). CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks and Cisco all score "Fundamental", meaning strong on the numbers but price has not yet confirmed. Zscaler scores "No Signal" with earnings contraction and a share price 59% below its 52-week high. None currently qualify for the AIIP Watchlist. Three have the fundamentals, but none have the momentum.
When fundamentals are strong but momentum has not caught up, that gap is often where opportunities emerge.
Stack 6 (Security & Compliance) in the AIIP AI Stacks gained 3.2% this past week but is down 17.1% year-to-date, compared to Hardware & Infrastructure at +19.0% YTD and Power & Cooling at +9.2% YTD. The security layer of the AI stack has clearly lagged.
Final Take
Cybersecurity has not yet had its AI moment, but the data suggests the catalyst is building. Investors focused solely on chips, cloud and infrastructure may be overlooking one of the most fundamental layers of the AI stack. Security is not optional, and the companies building AI-native defences sit at a critical juncture in the value chain. This sector warrants closer attention from anyone researching broad exposure to the AI theme.

Info tech is projected to grow EPS by 44% in Q1 2026, accounting for 87% of S&P 500 earnings growth. Goldman estimates AI infrastructure investment will drive roughly 40% of all S&P 500 earnings growth this year.
Cybersecurity: The AI Supercycle's Biggest Blind Spot – The Globe and Mail
JPMorgan projects global cybersecurity spending will reach $240bn in 2026 and $320bn by 2029 at 11% CAGR. AI-related security spending is growing 3 to 4x faster than the broader industry. CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks and Zscaler are named as primary beneficiaries by both JPMorgan and Wedbush.
The AI supercycle is shifting from raw compute to networking, inference and agentic AI. Bell Labs research points to high-teens annual growth in inter-data-centre traffic over the next decade, reflecting a structural move toward distributed AI architecture.
AI Startups
Google CEO Sundar Pichai says Alphabet is deploying more capital directly into AI startups as deal sizes reach hundreds of millions. The company's early SpaceX bet turned a $12bn investment into exposure to a $1.25tn valuation.
Family offices made 41 direct AI startup investments in February alone. Notable deals include Arena co-leading a $230m round into AI chip startup Positron. The shift reflects frustration with VC fee structures and longer private timelines, as companies stay private longer and more value is created pre-IPO.
